heyProcurement this week co-ran a workshop on ‘contractor safety’ in Brisbane where the importance of having both the and teams working together is a simple but highly effective way to reduce risk.

Key takeaways were :

1. HSE and Procurement teams get the best results when there is a strong collaborative approach between the functions.
2. Early involvement of HSE teams during the scope or specification development phase is key.
3. Where services require contractors it would be good practice to have the HSE representative involved in the ‘post tender (RFP)’ evaluation process with Procurement.

Many of these are common takeaways but fundamental to improving contractor safety.
