Hello big news! 🤯 After 5 years in business, Mullo Studio will be closing its doors next Monday 3 April 2023. I have accepted the role of Art Director at The University of Queensland. Mullo Studio has been one of the most profound experiences of my life — this has been a really difficult decision. ✨

I put Mullo Studio out into the universe in a weekend at 28. I had no confidence, no business acumen and deeply believed Mullo would not last. I told everyone I knew about Mullo on a Monday and things took off. Many factors contributed to this, but mostly, Mullo Studio worked because of you. 🙏🏻✨

Mullo has serviced hundreds of big brands and small businesses both here and overseas, and always supported indigenous, LGBTQIA+ and natural disaster affected communities in a pro bono capacity. Mullo has operated from Bundjalung country to Yunbenun and now Meanjin. I have had a physical studio and the most incredible colleague, Ivy. I collaborated with Covid in 2020 and the campaign went nuts. The pandemic hit my clients hardest at the end of 2021 and then the floods hit the Northern Rivers in March 2022, and Mullo lost 50-80% of its business each time. Mullo recuperated relatively quickly due to 3am sweats, working smartly and returning clients (thank you x100). Being innovative (and working really hard) is synonymous with business ownership. I’ve been featured on podcasts, publications and given talks. Thank you for these invitations, they still bewilder micro me.

The most magical thing about running Mullo Studio has been interacting with the people who surround this business — you. I’ve liaised with all walks of life. Mostly, running Mullo has renewed, again and again, my faith in the goodness of people. 🥰

It has been the most meaningful and ridiculous 5 years. 4 min face-to-camera chat on Instagram today to say the biggest thank you. I’ll be here until 3 April 2023.

Thank you. Over and out. 🖤

OH MY, HELLO FRIENDS ❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m baaa-aaack! After a 6 month hiatus from Instagram + Facebook, I’m back. Slightly terrified. Mullo Studio has been alive all this time — I will forever be grateful to my clients for keeping my baby alive. Who knew taking some time away from the feed would be OK. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🙏🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am now based on Yunbenun (Magnetic Island). I cruise the island on my red scooter, running out of petrol all too often, I live in a cyclone-proof house near the bush and beach, I work from Jungle Club surrounded by the biggest dreams, I’ve been growing paw paws + grasshopper-infested sunflowers, dying at bootcamp, hosting life drawing to sweaty crowds and above all, I’ve been choosing joy*, for a whole year. *Huge caveat — I was blessed with a year of not much covid. 🏝
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year I’m stepping it up a notch, by creating long-term, deep roots, however a Covid world will allow it. ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After 4 years of Mullo Studio, I introduce a new tide — a breath of fresh air — in the world of Mullo. Yunbenun is special, it is so much a part of my life now and should be imbedded in the brand. I think / hope it’ll blow your hair back too. I am still me — same 4-day work weeks, same offering + same longwinded posts. But with the influence of Yunbenun, surrounded by the Great Barrier reef, national park and its huge, soft, grounding boulders, and as always, a truly magical community. Thank you, as always, for being here. 💕
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s to 2022,
Lucy 🥰

Oh Mags. 🏝
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The last month was quite possibly one of the most epic times of my life on Yunbenun (Magnetic Island). ✨ It may not have been what I expected (island life is wildly unpredictable), it definitely wasn’t four weeks of drawing, but it was *truly* inspiring, uplifting, creative and full of life, everything a residency should be — thank you for one helluva time Jungle Club! 💚

I always give Flock as a brand example of being on the 100% side of the inclusive (to exclusive) spectrum. Or the 100% side of the friendly (to sterile) spectrum. 💯
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This brand update, simultaneously rolled out with their new larder offering, aimed to mirror what Flock *feels* like — wild and considered. Warm and gorgeously friendly. An abundance of delicious food (that. food. cabinet.). A creative and expressive interior. And a huge celebration of colour. And in doing all of the above, Flock, like it’s namesake, welcomes everyone — a rare feat. 🙏
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Flock’s founders, Sarah and Kym, have built a very special community. It was an honour to collaborate with them and be immersed in that Flock magic for a little while. ✨
