And the grand answer was…..The CURE.
Clues as follows.
• Dr Smith = Robert Smith (singer)
• Don’t Cry = reference to the song “Boys Don’t Cry”
• Solution = a health term would be CURE.
• Patient’s tears = reference to the song again.
• (Apologies for the boy having a beard). 😊
The Cure emerged in the late 1970s in Crawley, West Sussex, built around the songwriting and distinctive presence of Robert Smith. Their early sound blended post punk edges with emotional openness, and the 1979 single Boys Don’t Cry quickly became one of their signature early tracks. Its mix of bright guitar hooks and understated vulnerability set the tone for much of what would define the band’s identity.
Through the early 1980s, The Cure shifted toward a darker, more atmospheric style, releasing albums such as Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and the album Po*******hy, which captured the intensity of that period without overshadowing their melodic instincts. Throughout these changes, Robert Smith remained the creative anchor, shaping the band’s evolving sound and visual aesthetic.
By the late 1980s and early 1990s, The Cure had broadened their reach with a blend of introspective work and more accessible, shimmering pop. This era produced many of their most enduring singles, including Just Like Heaven, Lovesong, Friday I’m in Love, and In Between Days — songs that helped secure their place as one of the most influential alternative bands of their generation.
