We’re excited to share a recent upgrade to our workspace at Makeables Rocklea, designed to better support our growing team and daily operations.
In a busy warehouse environment where employees build vocational skills across commercial co-packing services such as component assembly, light engineering, packaging services, and administrative tasks, it’s essential that our space is both functional and comfortable. As part of this project, we’ve refurbished 18 worktables, replacing old tabletops to higher grade units that are better suited to the working environment, ensuring our team has the room and resources they need to work safely and effectively.
We’ve also introduced commercial air conditioning units and installed industrial fans, helping to create a more comfortable environment that supports wellbeing and productivity throughout the day in the warmer months.
These improvements not only strengthen the quality and efficiency of our operations but also reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a supportive, inclusive workplace where employees can continue to learn, develop, and thrive.
This project is proudly funded by the Lord Mayor’s Better Suburbs Grants from Brisbane City Council.

The COCA Collage group at Capalaba has been deep in the detail lately.
The session opened with refinements to the group collage, with lighter textured paper used to bring a softer tone to the ghost gum. From there, artists moved into their independent works, each at a different stage of their practice.
Sherree hand-sewed a second balloon for her mobile, Rachael continued perfecting her dog drawings and prepared an undercoated canvas, and Ashleigh took an independent step, following video instructions to draw two different breeds entirely on her own. Emily worked on sketches of her foxie and is exploring paper options ahead of her solo exhibition in September.

The COCA Collage group at Capalaba spent a recent session taking stock of where their work is heading.
The group reflected on their large-scale collage and mapped out what is still needed to bring it together, including some gold leaf that is very much on the horizon. They also reviewed their independent projects and worked through the next steps needed to have everything ready for the first exhibition in the ""A Book By Any Other Name"" series, opening in September.
With a mix of genres represented across the works, the group is navigating both the creative possibilities and the challenges that come with them.
