Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are not something we celebrate for just one week—they are embedded into our everyday curriculum and learning environment.

From our thoughtfully designed foyer displays to our daily learning experiences, storytelling, art, sensory play, mark making, music, and our connection to Country, we intentionally create opportunities for children to develop respect, curiosity and appreciation for the world's oldest continuing cultures.

NAIDOC Week provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect, but our commitment continues throughout the entire year. We are proud to foster a learning environment where culture is honoured, diversity is celebrated, and every child develops a strong sense of belonging, respect and connection.

NAIDOC Week 2026 – Learning Through Culture, Country and Connection

As part of our NAIDOC Week learning, the children explored sensory mud and sand experiences inspired by our connection to Country, using natural materials to dig, mix, create and discover. Through mark making in the mud and sand, they used their fingers and natural tools to draw lines, patterns and symbols, supporting early literacy, creativity and self-expression. These open-ended experiences encourage children to connect with the land, explore natural textures and develop an appreciation for caring for Country. Working together also strengthened their communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills as they shared ideas and resources. At Goodstart Indooroopilly Witton Road, embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday curriculum is a meaningful and well-established part of our children's learning journey.
