The 2026 VEX IQ Australian Open has come to a triumphant close, and I am thrilled to extend my sincerest gratitude to our exceptional team, comprising Mr. Fenn, Mr. Darcy, Aidan Windleborn, Jaden Gibbons, our local VEX U team GUARD, Kiwi Tim and Sam Snow our division referees and our international partners, for their tireless commitment to innovation and progress. The unwavering enthusiasm from parents and coaches has been the driving force behind empowering these young minds to achieve greatness. Notably, our friends from New Zealand, Rovers Robotics Kiwibots, showcased remarkable skill, earning the Excellence Award and Skills Award Additionally, two teams from Hong Kong rose to the challenge, claiming the top spots in Tournament Teamwork Champions, while our local team 13888A demonstrated outstanding design prowess, taking home the Design Award. This event has reaffirmed our belief that by harnessing passion and innovation, we can create transformative experiences that foster growth, learning, and meaningful connections, and we are already eagerly anticipating next year's event. 2026 VEX IQ Australian Open, A different type of VEX IQ Competition!!

The 2026 VEX IQ Australian Open has delivered a competition format like no other… and the energy has been incredible! 💥
This year’s “Mix & Match” format is a VEX competition with a difference:

👉 Day 1
All 32 teams (16 Australian 🇦🇺 + 16 International 🌏) competed together, each playing 8 matches to determine overall rankings.

👉 Day 2 – The Split
Teams were then divided into:

🏆 Champions Division (Top 16)
⚡ Challenger Division (Bottom 16)

From there, BOTH divisions played another 8 matches to fight for their place in the division finals!

🌏 Teams have travelled from across Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong China, bringing together an amazing mix of experience, cultures, and innovation.

💡 Why this format works:
Every team has something to play for on Day 2
Teams compete against others at a similar level
More meaningful matches and stronger development
Less experienced teams stay competitive and inspired
Top teams continue to be pushed at an elite level
