"Toasted Walnut" reflects a direction we're seeing resonate strongly in Canberra bathroom renovations right now. There's a real appetite for spaces that feel spa-like without being cold or overly styled. Walnut timber paired with travertine surfaces achieves exactly that, warmth and texture working together rather than competing. The brushed brass hardware is doing important work here too. It connects the cabinetry tones to the fixtures without demanding attention, which is what good detailing does. This original 1977 Willemsen home in Farrer is one of those projects that showcases what a truly integrated design and build approach can achieve. Five separate levels, varying ceiling heights and a complex site, the kind of brief that demands respect, precision and a team that can hold the vision from the first sketch through to the final finish.

The clients' vision was clear: a contemporary, spacious, light-filled home with a resort-like quality and a strong connection to the outdoors. Achieving that on a site this layered required careful planning, precise construction and considered decision-making at every stage.

The exterior tells the story first. Painted white brick, new windows, frameless glass balustrades, louvre screening and a new pool position and surround have replaced what was a heavy, dated facade. Inside, the complete transformation is equally considered, a reimagined kitchen with dramatic feature marble and herringbone timber flooring, multi-level living zones flooded with natural light through new skylights, a refined bathroom, ensuite and laundry, and a new balcony with views overlooking the bush capital that makes the most of the home's elevated position.

Every phase of this project was delivered through our integrated design and build service, from initial concept through approvals, construction and final finishes.
