It's possible to heal your trauma. It's possible to feel safe in your body and feel joy again. You can find peace. It's all possible because our brain has the ability to change and adapt. Current research is finding that healing trauma begins with the brain and nervous system. This made my healing journey so much easier. We can change how trauma is processed by our brain. At Embodiment Institute we use somatic healing approaches because they're wholistic and work with the part of us that has been most affected, our brain and nervous system. Then our heart can heal.

We're about to start our AWAKEN course again and this is a great place to start or continue your healing journey.

In our Level One AWAKEN course we create a supportive environment to explore and heal the ways stress and trauma have affected our wellbeing. Because trauma affects our nervous system and brain, healing our heart begins with the body and this is why we use somatic methods. We will learn about healing our nervous system. We will reconnect with ourselves and come away with life long tools and practices.

We use the healing benefits of group connection, gentle movement, somatic exercise, informative sessions and discussion. It is designed to help the brain and nervous system, as well as our hearts and minds, heal and restore. It is the way we can find trust in ourselves again.

Together we will explore, listen, learn, move and heal.

It begins with becoming safely embodied.

To heal those parts of us that carry trauma we first need to create a safe space for them. A space within our body and emotions and also in our environment and close relationships. We need to slow things down to listen and become aware of what they need to feel safe, secure and supported. Then we can start to repair and heal the wounds and the ways our brain and nervous system have been affected.

Trauma neuroscience research shows that trauma becomes part of our identity, our emotions and body awareness. It lives in the limbic and nervous system, our body. So that's where we begin.

Our Level Two Awaken course follows these principles. We believe that the body points the way towards healing, because that's it's nature, moving forward towards balance.
