Fighting for better healthcare services and a stronger economy. Authorised by Ash van Dijk for ACT Labor

28/10/2024

Diwali celebrations have commenced across the globe. Today, in Canberra, we lit the diya at Government House with H.E. Ms. Sam Mostyn AC to commence the season of Deepavali in Australia. 🪔

May the values that Diwali signifies be reflected in our communities and beyond.

Well done to the artists and performers today for brilliantly displaying the history and significance of Diwali through song and dance.

Yerrabi, it was my honour and pleasure to serve as your Labor candidate in the 2024 ACT election.

I’m glad I was able to play a small part in getting Labor re-elected. I thank every member of the community who believed and supported me from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to thank my wonderful team, led by Martin, for their hard work over the past 10 months. Having people take time out of their lives to help you is a victory in itself, and I’m very grateful to every single volunteer who was a part of my campaign.

Every candidate should be very proud of their efforts. I wish the new Labor caucus the very best and I am excited to see the work over the next parliamentary term.

I’d also like to thank Andrew Barr for his guidance and leadership throughout the campaign. Not only am I grateful to call him a mentor, but also a friend.

Finally, to my family, thank you for everything. You are my strength, and your unwavering love and support will always make me feel unstoppable.

Till next time.

🙏🏽❤️

Today is International Pregnancy and Early Loss Remembrance Day. We pause to acknowledge and reflect on the magnitude of the loss and the impact it has on our ACT community. The Carillon will be lit up in pink and blue tonight, together with other ACT landmarks.
At 7pm, parents around the world will light a candle in memory of their beloved children.
A group of bereaved mums will be catching up for a picnic by the Carillon at 6.30pm, issuing an open invitation to anyone to attend: https://www.facebook.com/events/833568048863216. Bring your rug, BYO picnic or takeaway.
The ACT is also proud to offer early pregnancy loss certificates, which may help parents in the grieving process.
These commemorative certificates are available to parents who have lost a baby before 20 weeks gestation where a birth certificate is not available.
Parents can choose between several certificate designs which use specially commissioned artworks.
These certificates are available to any parent who has experienced early pregnancy loss in the ACT, at any time - including retrospectively, and even if the parent no longer resides in the ACT.
The certificates are free of charge. No medical evidence is required.
More information on the certificates and how to apply is available here:https://www.accesscanberra.act.gov.au/births-relationships-and-deaths/deaths/early-pregnancy-loss-certificates
