This is exactly the kind of moment that reminds us why this work matters. Huge congratulations to our team in Laos and all our partners on launching the Wolbachia release in Oudomxay Province, part of the Driving Down Dengue in Laos project.

One of the standout moments was seeing our Youth Champions, selected through the DDDiL Short Video Competition, take the stage to share their commitment to dengue prevention - a reminder that young people are already leading change in their communities, not just waiting to lead it one day.

Next stop is Luang Prabang on 11 July, where we'll welcome the Minister of Health for the next release. None of this happens without the Village Health Volunteers, local authorities, and community members whose trust and hard work made this milestone possible, and we're proud to be doing this alongside the Ministry of Health, Save the Children in Laos, and the Australian Government. Today's launch is the beginning, not the end - more to come soon.

𝐀 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐔

World Mosquito Program and the Cebu City Government have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to pilot the Wolbachia method in Cebu City - the first partnership of its kind in the Philippines.

The agreement supports dengue prevention efforts across 19 high-risk barangays, with WMP and the Cebu City Government working together on planning, delivery, community engagement and monitoring.

Warm thanks to Mayor Nestor Archival, Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña [tag], and Councilor Michelle Abella-Cellona for their leadership, and to Dr. Claudia Surjadjaja and Mark Kristofer Querubin who represented WMP at the signing.

Our appreciation also goes to the Cebu City Local Health Board, the Technical Working Group, the RAFI - Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., and the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development.

Together, we're working toward stronger, safer, and healthier communities across Cebu City.

At today's Asian Development Bank (ADB) Asia Wolbachia Dialogue, WMP's Peter Ryan joins the panel to share the success of our Wolbachia replacement method, how it's being scaled and the impact it's delivering.

Luciano Moreira brings the Brazil story, showing how that's playing out on the ground.

The move from proven science to government-owned delivery is where the real work happens.

Today is World Dengue Day. Meet Alicia, who survived dengue in Peru and now helps her community in Comas understand and accept the Wolbachia method.
