Saturday Spotlight: Robyn Kildey

After more than two decades serving the Noosa Hinterland property market, longtime real estate principal Robyn Kildey is stepping into retirement, closing a significant chapter for both her business and the wider community.

Robyn, owner and director of Countryside Realty Noosa Countryside Realty Noosa, has spent 24 years helping locals buy, sell and settle into hinterland life, building strong personal relationships along the way.

Reflecting on changes across the region during her career, she said the local demographic had shifted considerably. “I think other than the huge price rise in the area is the change in demographics where 20 years ago it was predominantly older people moving here to retire, we now see younger families moving here,” she said.

Robyn said helping people find the right property had been one of the most rewarding aspects of the role. “…That’s something I will miss,” she said.

After 24 years in business filled with accomplishments, Robyn looks back on a job well done. “I think achieving 24 years in business through some difficult times and the fact that I have made so many long-term friends has been so enjoyable.” As she begins retirement, Robyn is looking forward to travelling and spending more time with family.

The retirement also marks a new chapter for Countryside Realty Noosa, which will transition into Hinternoosa Real Estate under the leadership of principal and director Sirah Robb.

Sirah said the transition united two respected local agencies with shared community values and a commitment to personalised service across the hinterland region. She also added that Hinternoosa will ensure continuity of service for clients as a key priority throughout the transition process, with existing relationships and ongoing support remaining central to the merger.

“We understand how important trust and long-term relationships are in property management and real estate. We are honoured that Robyn has entrusted us with the care of her valued clients, and we are committed to ensuring a seamless and positive experience moving forward,” she said.

Major Doonella Lake bridge upgrade to begin July

One of Noosa’s busiest transport links is set for a major upgrade, with works on the Doonella Lake Bridge expected to begin in July this year.

Noosa Council will be appointing a contractor to undertake the multi-million-dollar project, which will strengthen and modernise the key connection between Tewantin and Noosaville.

Built in 1968, the bridge carries more than 20,000 vehicles each day as well as pedestrians and cyclists.

Infrastructure Services Director Shaun Walsh said the works were essential to ensure the bridge continued serving the community well into the future. “We know major roadworks can be inconvenient, but it’s important to be aware that work will be on one lane, so the bridge won’t be closed during the project,” Shaun said. “We appreciate the community’s patience as this is a critical piece of work.

“This project will modernise safety and design standards, improve durability and connectivity for the community well into the future.”

Traffic changes will be in place during construction, including single-lane closures. Some night works may also occur to help minimise disruption. Marine access beneath the bridge will be closed for the duration of the project.

Frank Wilkie Noosa Mayor said the upgrade would help extend the life of the structure by about 50 years. “Reinforcing the structure and upgrading safety barriers reduces long-term maintenance and helps ensure the bridge’s integrity for decades to come,” Mayor Frank said.

The project will include structural strengthening, installation of new safety barriers, repairs to underwater bridge piles and improvements to the Hilton Terrace approach. Council will also investigate options to improve cyclist access across the bridge. Construction is expected to take about six months, weather permitting. Motorists are being encouraged to begin considering alternative routes and allow extra travel time once work begins.

The project is jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program and Noosa Council.

Council says residents and road users will be kept updated throughout the works through an extensive communication campaign.
