🧘🏼♀️ Legs Up The Wall 🧘🏼♀️
You’ve probably seen this posture before.
It has great benefits including:
✔️ Calming the nervous system
✔️ Promoting lymph drainage in the legs/feet
✔️ Stretching hamstrings
BUT….
Ever tried it and either found it hard to get into or felt a strain in your lower back? 🤕
If you’ve got tight hamstrings (one of the reasons you might actually want to do this pose), it can be a really DIFFICULT position to get into and cause lower back discomfort.
Try doing it in a doorway with one leg at a time as pictured or move your bottom a little further away from the wall.
Do:
✅ Keep your pelvis stable / neutral
✅ Breathe steadily
✅ Support your head if needed (spine should be long and comfortable)
✅ Relax into the posture
✅ Bend your knee if needed to keep your posture correct (either knee!)
✅ Flex the foot if you want more stretch (optional)
Don’t:
❌ Let your pelvis be tilted/twisted
❌ Arch your back
❌ Force it
❌ Hold your breath
Try these tips and let me know how you go! This is a beautiful posture to try before bed to help you drift off a little more peacefully 😴
