🧱 Steel Installation – Part 2: Vertical Droppers
Coming straight out of our slab, we have 600mm high starter bars with a hook.
Once the blockwork is built, we install our full-height vertical droppers, lapping them with the starter bars below. The top hook then sits over our horizontal bond beam steel.
Once filled with concrete, these steel reinforcements help tie the structure together, providing strength and helping our homes withstand the forces experienced during cyclones.
🧱 Steel Installation – Part 1: Bond Beam
A bond beam is a continuous reinforced section of masonry that runs around the dwelling at the same height and is filled with concrete. This house is engineered with a double bond beam
It helps strengthen the walls and provides a solid connection point for securing the roof structure to the house.
Once the concrete has cured, the roof tie-down bolts help connect the roof trusses to the masonry structure, helping resist wind uplift 🌀 we get cyclone’s where I am from.
