Kate Dunn is leaving Cunnamulla today for the three-hour drive to St George.
She's leaving with a heavy heart.
The health professionals she works alongside in outback Queensland are under extreme pressure, stretched beyond what's sustainable, trying to fill the gaps left by a system that has chronically underfunded rural and remote communities.
Her message is simple. It always comes back to the same thing:
"It shouldn't be your postcode that dictates what kind of healthcare you receive."
Seven words. The whole problem, perfectly stated, from the front seat of a car, somewhere between Cunnamulla and St George.
