🇫🇷La fête du travail🇫🇷
Each year, on the 1st of May in France, we celebrate "la fête du travail" -labour day.
👉It is "un jour férié" - a public holiday. Usually, it means that people are off work, all the shops are closed and there is very few public transport available.
👉On this day, the tradition is to give "un brin de muguet" - a bit of lilly of the valley- for good luck. If you walked the streets of France on the 1st f May, you would probably see people selling these flowers in front of their house.
👉Sometimes, "on fait le pont". For example, if "le premier Mai" -the first of May- is on a thursday, we would take friday off in order to have a longer week-end. This is what we call "Faire le pont", it is like having a long week-end.
