Sports-class Racing Series - SRS

New rule for red gliders in 2027.

The CSC working group has made the observation that red gliders, which absorb more energetic wavelengths of light than blue gliders, have a slight performance advantage.

An amendment has thus been added to the SRS rules for 2027.

Red gliders will need to re-colour at least 40% of their cells with a regulation blue marker pen which you can purchase from the XC Magazine shop for €50 with a special reduction for SRS pilots with the voucher code: SRS0104.

Launch of the Pre-SRS.

The first Pre-SRS will be held in Tekeli, Kazakhstan, 22-28 June.
Given the phenomenal popularity of the SRS, each event is now massively oversubscribed making it very difficult for new comers to get a place. Bassano del Grappa, Italy, 23 - 30 May has a maximum of 130 places, with 460 pilots wanting to take part. The wild card system isn’t an easy way in either, with 35 pilots chasing 5 places!
The Pre-SRS circuit gives an alternative way to qualify for SRS events.
The SRS team won’t be there to cheer you on, however pilots on a Sports wing will achieve a higher SRS Score than if they were flying in a normal Open event. It also gives pilots the opportunity to gain experience of the venue, knowing it may well host a full SRS Edition in the future.

Launch of SRS Qualifier events.
These are normal CAT2 events. The SRS is not involved in any way, and the organisation is free to run the event however they wish. They give pilots an SRS Score and will be run by competition organisers who have a reputation for achieving a standard in-keeping with the SRS philosophy.
Two SRS Qualifier events are scheduled:
Tolmin, Slovenia. 14-20 June.
Monroe, USA. Red Rocks Wide Open, 19-26 September.

Registration for SRS events.
Registration is now open for the BGD Edition, Piedrahita, Spain, 22 – 29 August.
Registration for the Advance Edition, Tapalpa, Mexico, 7-14 November, will start on Sunday 1st of March.
