IT’S THE 21ST OF DECEMBER… which is apparently “Gravy Day” now. To commemorate, we’re rolling with something a bit different: the first two official albums, with his original Melbourne band The Dots. Released in 1981, and 1982 respectively, both ‘Talk’ and ‘Manila’ chronicle an ambitious young songwriter still refining his craft. However the distinctive elements that would go onto make him one of Australia’s most recognisable and beloved voices are all present and accounted for. Despite PK’s own indifference - both have been unavailable on any format for over 30 years - these albums are rife with a playfulness and rough-hewn charm that make them essential additions to any fan’s collection.
