Inaugural meeting of the Perth Obesity Network (PON) was held at the Trade Winds Hotel in East Fremantle on June 19, 2013 between 6.30-8.30pm and was sponsored by the Mental Health Professionals Network and the Obesity Clinic in Fremantle. Most attendees were doctors or psychologists but the group is keen to include social workers, dieticians, nutritionists, naturopaths, personal trainers, weigh loss coaches, physical education teachers, counsellors and wellness consultants.

The inaugural presentation was on calorie restriction, intermittent fasting & the research of UIC* A. Prof. Krista Varady, Ph.D. including her 2012 peer reviewed publications on the Isagenix weight-loss system. Guest speakers for future meetings will be dieticians (Nov 2013) and personal trainers (Feb 2014).
