⚠️ Foreign Body Alert in Cats ⚠️
This is metres of string we surgically removed from a cat’s intestines after it swallowed a linear foreign body. 🧵🐱
String, ribbon, wool, hair ties, and similar items can be extremely dangerous for cats. Unlike some foreign objects, linear foreign bodies can saw through the intestines as the gut tries to move them along, causing severe damage and becoming life-threatening very quickly.
🚨 Signs of a possible foreign body include:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Loss of appetite / not eating
• Lethargy or hiding
• Abdominal pain
• Changes in appearance or behaviour
If you suspect your pet has swallowed something they shouldn’t. Give us a call on 46308399 if you have questions or concerns.
Early treatment can save lives.
💙A reminder to keep string-like objects safely out of reach of curious cats! 💙
