Our final performer in our Through Stone and Light performance is Ed le Brocq, whose dulcet tones are beloved by ABC Classic listeners across the country. Ed will be weaving in a spoken commentary about the music and composers' lives, Florence Price and Dobrinka Tabakova.

Ed Le Brocq is a writer, musician and broadcaster. He was born on the White Cliffs of Dover and began playing music at six years old. He studied music in Manchester, Berlin and London, played professionally in the UK and Hong Kong and moved to Australia in 2003. Ed is the presenter of ABC Classic’s Weekend Breakfast and Music Class, with Genevieve Lang.

Ed has written five books, including Cadence, about his journey by bicycle from England to Hong Kong with only a violin for company, Danger Music, describing his year teaching music in Afghanistan, and Sonam and the Silence, a children’s book about the importance of music. Ed’s books have been shortlisted for several prestigious awards, including the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards.

Ed was born Emma and transitioned just before his fiftieth birthday. Better late than never.

Through Stone and Light pianist - Muses Trio Principal Artist and Co-founder, Therese Milanovic. Therese is a passionate performer, educator, and musicians’ health advocate.

After a decade of playing-related injuries, studying the Taubman Approach (USA) enabled her to resume her chosen pathway to the fullest. Therese was the first Australian to become a Taubman Instructor (2009), the focus of her PhD, and is the most experienced Taubman teacher in Australia (Master Level and Associate Faculty with the Golandsky Institute USA).

She is an advocate for musicians’ injury prevention and rehabilitation, providing access for curious interstate and international students through online learning alongside workshops, teacher training and lectures for music teachers’ groups and conferences. Therese has been a Keynote Speaker for numerous national conferences including APPCA and ANZCA. She is committed to her ongoing learning and artistic development through continued online study with Edna Golandsky and John Bloomfield.

As a performer, Therese loves collaborating with like-minded musicians. She has performed with Topology since 2009, including shows in the Netherlands, NYC, Belgium, and Indonesia, national tours and festivals. Chamber music is also close to her heart, presenting events to highlight lesser-known repertoire, in particular new music and music by women.
Otherwise, Therese spends her time attempting to sneak vegetables into her son's meals and avoiding lego injuries.
