This is potentially the most photographed scene in Tasmania. But hey, I was there, so I shot it, again. (and this one is better)

I could bore you with the typical history of the boatshed at this point, but instead I'll just quickly touch on the glove mystery.

It is said that when the shed was refurbished in the 80's that a glove was found behind a beam believed to belong to no other than Lionel Connell himself, the original builder of the shed in the 40's. When I was last here, at the exact same moment I was creating this image, my wife's gloves also mysteriously disappeared from her person. Upon further research it seems many visitors have lost their gloves at this location, seemingly without explanation, sometimes on the path around the lake or on other tracks, but mostly centered around the boatshed itself.

Could it simply be more glove-wearers means more lost gloves, particularly in this popular spot? Certainly not. Something more sinister is clearly afoot. Far more likely is the notion that the local ghost (often reported to still traverse the lake from time to time, not to be seen but only heard by the distant creak of oars) is actually the ghost of Lionel Connell, still unable to find his missing glove, so stealing those of visitors to the lake instead.

Now, maybe I just made all that up. But what do you think? Is there a ghost at dove lake?
