And Relax… mostly 😌
I love my little home studio. Most days it’s peaceful, cosy and the perfect place to switch off from the outside world.
But every now and then life reminds us that we don’t actually control everything. Like when the lawn mowing crew arrives days early and suddenly it sounds like they’re trimming the grass directly under the massage table. 😂
I once had an enquiry asking if my studio was completely silent. The truth is, most of the time it is. But sometimes a mower starts up, a dog barks, a rooster has an opinion, or the wind decides to put on a performance.
My yoga teacher in India once said:
“If one little mosquito can disturb your peace, what chance do you have in life?”
Now, to be fair, one little mozzie still annoys the absolute s**t out of me. 😆
But maybe relaxation isn’t about waiting for perfect silence. Maybe it’s about finding calm amongst the chaos, taking a breath, and remembering that life is beautifully imperfect.
The lawn mower will finish.
The mozzie will eventually leave.
And we’ll keep doing our best to relax anyway. 💚

Why I Wear Knee-High Compression Socks as a Massage Therapist
As therapists, we spend hours on our feet every day. While that might seem normal, standing for long periods puts extra pressure on the veins in our legs, making it harder for blood to travel back up to the heart.
Compression socks apply gentle pressure to the lower legs, helping to:
✅ Improve circulation
✅ Reduce swelling in the feet and ankles
✅ Decrease feelings of heaviness and fatigue in the legs
✅ Support vein function
✅ Reduce the risk of varicose veins developing or worsening
✅ Help recovery after a long day of standing
For me, it’s even more important because I have an incompetent vein in my gastrocnemius (calf) muscle. This means one of the valves in the vein isn’t closing properly, allowing blood to pool instead of efficiently returning to the heart.
When blood pools in the lower leg, it can contribute to:
* Aching or tired legs
* Swelling
* Increased pressure within the veins
* Progression of venous insufficiency over time
Compression socks help by gently squeezing the tissues and veins of the lower leg, encouraging blood to move upward and reducing the amount of pooling that occurs.
They’re not the most glamorous piece of workwear, but after a full day of treatments, my legs definitely notice the difference when I wear them.
Therapist tip: If you’re on your feet all day, consider compression socks as important as supportive footwear. Your future legs will thank you.

Massage Room Tip 💡
Nothing ruins a relaxing treatment quite like tripping over cords!
A few simple ways to keep your massage room safe, tidy and professional:
• Use an extra mat over the cords
• Secure cords along walls where possible
• Keep power boards tucked away and off walkways
• Bundle excess cable length with Velcro ties
• Do a quick “trip hazard check” between clients
A clutter-free room not only looks better, it helps create a calm, safe space for both you and your clients.
What little things do you do in your treatment room to make life easier?
One quick clinic tip that makes your space feel instantly calmer 👇
HIDE 👏 THE 👏 CORDS 👏
✔️ Less visual clutter
✔️ Safer to move around
✔️ Easier cleaning
✔️ Less chance of getting completely overstimulated by random dangling cables by Thursday
Tiny changes honestly make the biggest difference in a massage space.
Hope this helps.
