📣 Tax Tip: Claiming Motor Vehicle Expenses for Work 📣

Do you use your car for work? You might be missing out on a bigger tax refund!

There are two ways you can claim car expenses for work purposes:

🚗 1️⃣ Logbook Method: Ideal if you drive more than 5,000km per year for work.

✅ What you’ll need:
A 12-week logbook recording all trips (business and private)
Your odometer reading as of 30th June

This method lets you calculate the percentage of work-related travel and claim that portion of your car expenses - like fuel, rego, insurance, and servicing.

📅 Good news: Once done, your logbook is valid for 5 years, as long as your travel pattern stays consistent!

🚗 2️⃣ Cents-Per-Kilometre Method: Best suited if you travel under 5,000km per year for work.

This method uses a standard rate per kilometre, and no logbook is required.

✅ Your super fund must RECEIVE the payment by 30 June 2026 - not just have it in process.
⏳ Processing times can vary, so it's important to check with your super clearing house to confirm their cut-off dates for payment.
💼 To make sure your contributions are tax-deductible this financial year, we recommend scheduling payments well in advance of the deadline.
