Hi all, I have created a FAQ for the Jetcast website that covers a lot of the questions that people either considering getting into jet ski fishing or are relatively new. It covers general jetski fishing questions about the sport, the skis that are available, and the accessories that are available to enhance the experience.
Hope this helps more people understand this great sport and what is possible, what accessories are required, and where to but them! :) . Click the photo below to go to the webpage and take a read. Let me know if you see any issues too!

I've been a little quiet with the jetski fishing recently, but this week I took up an invite to go out fishing on friend Dave's boat in the one day weather window we had this week.
Dave has equipped his Yellowfin 7.6m plate boat with some fantastic electronics to be able to find and explore new ground out of his home port of Hervey Bay. Dave's an experienced fishermen, jet ski fisho , and now I'd call him a pro-level fishing electronics guy! The new boat allows him to expand his fishing and go further, longer, and with more friends to experience some unique fishing. But he's still kept his Yamaha FXHO Waverunner for those quick solo blasts out far offshore.
We had a very long and productive day, around 17 hours at sea, which unfortunately included punching directly back into 20 knot plus southwesterly storm squalls for over 3 hours- and at night! Have you ever seen waves heading away from land that were breaking? I have now. It felt like a 3hr bar crossing actually.
Here's a couple of the better fish I caught, just two of the many and varied reef and pelagic species we took home or released. Unfortunately the sharks did far better than us. They took many of the better quality reefies we were targeting, including red emperor and coral trout, all unable to be raised despite the highest speed reel cranking possible! As Dave noted, sharks also seem to think "if it's red- it's dead!"
Sharks really are in "worse than" plague proportions now. One came up to the boat chasing a fish and would have been 3+ metres. I'll be putting a video together soon and you'll see what I mean.
Dave recorded his Garmin LIvescope screen live video all day, and it shows shows just how many sharks were around. The video also shows some interesting fish behavior when different fishing styles throughout the day. Stay tuned!
Thanks very much Dave, it was an amazing experience all round. I'll never forget it!
Still learning the water. Every run offshore, every cast , every drift, there’s something more. Some days you’re the hunter, some days you’re the fool, the sea don’t care how long you’ve known the rules.
