πŸ™πŸ’™ A sincere thank you to Steve and the team at Coolum Motors for their incredible support of the Marcoola SLSC Nipper Program during the 2025/26 season!
Thanks to their generous sponsorship, every one of our Nippers received a brand-new rash shirt, helping them proudly represent our club while staying safe and comfortable throughout the season. πŸ–οΈπŸŒŠ
At a time when funding options had been exhausted and we were facing challenges delivering the program our young members deserve, Coolum Motors stepped up when we needed it most. Their support allowed us to continue providing a safe, modern and rewarding experience for our Nippers and their families. ⭐
Steve, your willingness to help at a critical time truly made a difference. Your support didn't just fund rash shirts, it helped ensure the ongoing success of our Junior Activities Program and supported the next generation of volunteer surf lifesavers. πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš©
On behalf of all our Nippers, families, volunteers and the Junior Activities Committee, thank you for your commitment to our club and our local community. We are incredibly grateful for your support. β€οΈπŸ’›

This year we presented the inaugural Trainer, Assessor or Facilitator of the Year Award, a recognition created in honour of Life Member Ivan Maltman, which was presented by his son, Heath Maltman.

Ivan was a dedicated and deeply respected member of our Club whose decades of service left a lasting legacy across every aspect of Marcoola SLSC. Ivan served the Club from 1983 through to 2011, with roles as Patrol Captain, Club President and Chief Training Officer. In that role, he made his greatest impact - mentoring, instructing, and developing generations of lifesavers with patience, knowledge, and genuine care. This award has been established to honour that legacy and to recognise those who continue his standard of excellence in training and development.

This year’s recipient is someone who has truly embodied those same values of leadership, mentorship, and commitment to others.

With 98 patrol hours this season, their contribution to frontline lifesaver has been strong and consistent. However, it is their work off the sand that has had an even greater impact.

They have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to upskilling new and existing lifesavers through the faciliatation of Skills Maintenance sessions, Patrol Team Inspections, and the delivery and assessment of Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate training.

Most notably, they have taken a leading role in Rescue Water Craft candidate identification and training, helping to strengthen one of the newest and most critical operational areas of our Club. In addition, they have actively been working towards becoming a qualified Trainer and Assessor in this award area - further demonstrating their commitment to continuous development and long-term contribution.

Through their energy, willingness to teach, and investment in others, they are helping to build a stronger, more capable, and more resilient patrol base for Marcoola.

It is with great pride that we recognise an individual who truly reflects the values and legacy of Ivan Maltman.

It is our absolute pleasure to announce the inaugural 2025–26 Trainer, Assessor or Facilitator of the Year Award goes to Geoff Jeffcoat.
