I was told by friends to open this 24+ hours in advance of consumption, in readiness of having and over tomorrow to join me and for a white Burgundy 'North to South' tasting. So, here I am at 10am doing a brekkie tasting on the PnP.

Background aroma notes of oat milk latte. On the palate bland dark wheat flavours overwhelm, augmented with textural elements of cardboard.

Actually...it's seriously lovely.

Move over Velasquez, I’m behind the camera now! I’m at one of those 67 Pall Mall Melbourne tastings where I feel the energy ripple through the crowd and the volume level surge because we are utterly captivated. I surrendered any modicum of restraint after I tasted 2023 Bodgeas Luis Pérez ‘El Muelle’ which delighted me with its power in restraint. Better than most Chablis that come at twice the price and is so much more interesting. Next up, ‘La Escribana’ 2022 is a richer more textural white that bowled me over. Move over, Jura. My WOTD. Moving from Jerez northwest to Rioja. What can I say about Bodegas Roda that has not been said so many times before? Immaculate reds that age with grace; they mark a departure from the earlier era of Rioja there were full of coconut and allspice flavours. Somm Christina aced it by sourcing an imperial-sized bottle of the 2015 Roda I.

If you are reading this in time, both producers have a Melbourne-based masterclass at early this afternoon. Check the PWS website to check if there are spaces left. It's worth it. The wines are imported by .

Marvellous evening, and a privilege to meet W***y Pérez from Bodegas Luis Pérez, and Victor Charcán from Bodegas Roda.
