🌍 Bill Gates: “Climate change will not lead to humanity’s demise.” What does that mean for us?

I was reflecting on a recent essay by Bill Gates, where he wrote:

“Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise. People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future.”

In his note he also argued that we should shift from a purely “doomsday” outlook on climate change and instead invest more in improving lives, tackling disease and poverty, and building resilience — because those issues, he says, often pose greater immediate threats.

This raised a question for me:
Is the “climate crisis” message still the most effective way to motivate action — or do we need a different kind of story?

In my work with NatureBoss.com.au , I’ve seen how people respond when the narrative is less about panic and more about possibility: “How can we care for our environment?” rather than “We’re doomed unless we act now.”
