15 May is always a special day for tax agents and accounting firms in Australia, the day we need to meet the Australian Tax Office (ATO) lodgement benchmark by lodging at least 85% of our clients’ tax returns on time.

It may sound simple, but every firm knows how much work sits behind that number, especially in an environment of staff shortages and increasing compliance requirements in Australia.

Last year, AP reached the benchmark at 85.1% without requesting an ATO extension. This year, our team went even further - achieving close to 90% on-time lodgement one day before the deadline. 🙌

This milestone reflects the dedication of our whole team across Vietnam and Australia: the long hours, late-night emails, weekend work, and genuine commitment to our clients and to each other.

15 May is also extra special as it is the birthday of our Chief of Staff, Ms Janet Huong Giang. 🎂

Happy birthday, Giang, and congratulations to the entire AP Team on this wonderful achievement and another great year of teamwork together. ✨

Cơm áo gạo tiền: Chuyển giao tài sản ở Úc, khi 'tình thương' gặp phải luật thuế 15/04/2026

In Vietnamese culture, it is very common for parents to financially support their children, from giving money to buy a home, allowing them to live rent-free in an investment property, to transferring assets. It is often seen as a natural responsibility.

However, when these actions take place in Australia, things become far more complex. From a legal and tax perspective, actions such as gifting money, providing free accommodation, or adding a child’s name to a property title can all lead to significant implications, from tax obligations to impacts on Centrelink entitlements.

Understanding these issues is key to avoiding risks ⚖️ , because sometimes, a decision made out of care and love ❤️ can lead to unexpected consequences.

🎙️ We warmly invite you to listen to insights shared by Ha Nguyen – Advanced Partners' Managing Director, in the latest podcast on SBS Vietnamese.
