Basalt, an important construction material, is deposited in layers through volcanic activity.
Groundwater travels between these layers and through cracks and fissures within the flows.
We work with the quarries extracting this material to understand and manage these complex hydrogeological systems and the surrounding environments.
These photos are from quarries in Point Wilson, Neerim North, and Phillip Island, in Victoria.
