The Name & Origins
β’ PEZ comes from the German word for peppermint: PfeffErminZ. They took the first, middle, and last letters β P-E-Z.
β’ Invented in Austria in 1927 by Eduard Haas III, it originally came in a tin and was marketed as an adult breath mint (no kids, no cartoons β just sophisticated minty freshness).
