A new front door is taking shape at Melbourne Airport! 🏗️🚧 ✈️ Under the cover of night, we’ve been busy building a new 19-metre-wide central pedestrian bridge across the forecourt in front of Terminals 1, 2, and 3. This isn’t just any bridge – it will connect travellers to a new bigger and better dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone opening next year, located in the Terminal 1, 2 & 3 car park. Moving public traffic away from the forecourt will ease congestion and free up space for us to expand the international terminal in the future. Our construction partner, CPB Contractors, has installed over 16,500 shear studs, tightened more than 4,850 bolts and used 527 tonnes of steel - that’s heavier than 85 elephants!
