On Friday night, I had the privilege of speaking at Generation Women Bathurst and what a special night it was 🤍

The theme was Matriarchs, Mentors and Aunties, and I shared the story of a woman who has had a profound impact on my life, along with the incredible older women I’ve met through volunteering in my community.

A huge thank you to the Generation Women Australia team, especially Laneikka, Lauren, Donna, Shane and Julie. From the very beginning, you made the entire experience feel welcoming, supportive and enjoyable. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and your kindness and encouragement made stepping onto that stage feel a whole lot easier.

Thank you also to KeyStone1889 for creating such a beautiful setting for the evening and for ensuring the venue was accessible. Having a space where I could access the stage and participate fully meant a lot, and it’s something that shouldn’t be taken for granted.

A special thank you as well to Summer Land , who did a wonderful job as MC for the evening. She brought so much warmth, humour and energy to the event, and made every speaker feel welcomed and supported as we stepped onto the stage.

One of my favourite parts of the evening was hearing the stories from the other speakers. Listening to them share stories about the mentors, matriarchs and aunties who have shaped their lives was inspiring, moving and often very funny.

And as a bonus, I’ve walked away with some wonderful new friendships too.

I’m feeling incredibly grateful today. Thank you to everyone who attended, listened, laughed at the right moments, and helped make it such a memorable night. ✨
