Vale David Hockney (1937–2026)
We join the global arts community in mourning the passing of David Hockney – one of the most influential and beloved artists of our time. Across a remarkable career spanning more than six decades, Hockney reimagined how we see the world, from his iconic sunlit pools to his bold experiments in photography and digital art.
His work was driven by curiosity, colour and a profound joy in looking – qualities that continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike.
At Mudgee Arts Precinct, we are honoured to share his legacy through David Hockney: Temporary Spaces, on exhibition now until 20 September. Featuring significant works from the National Gallery of Australia, including pieces from his celebrated Paper Pool series, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience his vision up close.
We invite our community to pause, reflect, and celebrate the life and work of an artist whose creativity changed the way we see.

No art-speak. No pressure to “get it right.” Just something genuinely interesting to see.
Chris O'Doherty, Up the Golden Highway by Reg Mombassa (Chris O’Doherty) is the kind of exhibition that draws you in straight away – bold, playful, a bit weird (in the best way) and surprisingly relatable.
You’ll spot familiar landscapes, quirky characters, and moments that feel humorous, curious and very Australian. It’s the kind of art you can simply enjoy – or stop and look a little deeper if you want to.
✨ If you’ve ever thought “galleries aren’t really for me”… this might change your mind.
