'Lola' was a collaboration project with Sunni Jay Music (Janine), a Sunshine Coast poet and lyricist. She asked me to put music to a poem written by her father for her mother 70 years ago. Both have since passed away, however their family were involved in this project and determined to share their love story. Together we aimed to tell their story with authenticity. Janine added lyrics to frame the poem with context. I chose a melody that I hoped would both convey the emotions while also not over complicating the very simple (and beautiful) premise of the poem- that he loved her and had faith that they would be together.
Today would have been their wedding anniversary.

I so loved being a part of this project and working with a fabulous team who approached the song with sensitivity to the story and dedication to their craft. Recorded and produced by Stonewax at Yama-Nui with strings by River Suite Orchestra and backing vocals by Angela from The Dawn Light. Mastered by 12th and Vine Post
