If you've ever had that thought, you're not alone. And here's something that might surprise you: friendship is a skill. And like any skill, it needs to be taught.
Through the Pyramid Model facilitated here at Puddles, we work with families and educators to teach Peer Mediated Strategies, using a child's peers to model specific behaviours in large groups that lead to friendship skills.
Peers can prompt, model, and reinforce social skills in ways that are naturally motivating. With the right guidance, children learn to:
👋 Greet peers
🔄 Take turns
🧩 Join group activities
🗣️ Initiate and respond in play
