Marketing can influence perception… but it can’t change ingredients, it can’t improve sourcing and it can’t undo unnecessary processing.
We believe quality is earned.
That’s why every product we stock is assessed using The Reference. Framework which looks beyond the claims on the front of the pack and focuses on what actually matters.
- ingredients;
- processing level;
- nutritional value;
- transparency and sourcing; and
- simplicity of formulation.
When you remove the marketing, what’s left is the product itself and that’s where quality should be measured.

We just made finding producers who choose quality over shortcuts easier and simpler.
The food industry follows demand.
We need to support the producers who choose to take the harder more expensive path, simply because they have their customers best interests in mind.
Better ingredients.
Better sourcing.
Fewer compromises.
Thank you for supporting the people doing it properly.

There’s a quiet luxury in knowing what’s inside the food you buy.
That’s why we built The Reference. Framework.
Every product is assessed against the same set of standards, looking at ingredient integrity, processing, nutritional density, transparency and simplicity.
We’re not here to give health advice, diagnose conditions or tell you what you should eat.
We’re simply a filter.
A way to cut through marketing, reduce confusion and decision fatigue and make it easier to find products that align with our standards.
The greatest luxury isn’t having more choice. It’s having more clarity.

At the centre of most routines is a set of small, repeated decisions.
The products used daily, the meals prepared regularly, the habits returned to without much thought.
Over time, those decisions tend to shape the baseline everything else builds from.
Try and know that you have set off the first domino.

Not everyone should be tracking macros, so we made it optional.
For some people the numbers genuinely do help, but for others it can turn into a beast of its own.
We built a simple toggle to turn it on or off. Your My Reference. account works for you either way, it’ll still help you with your goals and reduce friction in your life. Better food decisions were never meant to come with more anxiety.
We will continue to make this platform a safe, simple and peaceful place to shop for products you can trust.

Almost every day, someone shares a story with us.
This is just one of those stories, a story of how cutting out sugar/processed breads has improved my dad’s quality of life. From not being able to walk 50m to walking 6km with no pain and dropping 27kg in weight.
Well done dad and thank you for sharing your story.
Everyone’s journey is different but the common thread is very consistent, paying more attention to the quality of food we’re eating is having a net positive impact on people’s lives.
We don’t claim to have all the answers and we’re not here to offer health advice.
We’re here to make choosing better food simpler. To filter out the noise.
To help you spend less time decoding labels and more time filling your pantry with food you can trust.
If you’re ready to take that first step, we’ve built .au to make it easier.

We’ve been conditioned to expect our food to look perfect.
Perfectly coloured, perfectly textured, perfectly untouched.
But real food comes from living ecosystems and a tiny insect on fresh produce is simply a reminder that food exists in nature, not in a sterile environment.
How have we been taught to fear an insect more than the chemicals used to keep it away?

One of my favourite parts of building .au has been creating a visual identity that represents the deeper concept behind the brand.
Our logo is inspired by the annual growth rings of a tree.
At the centre is the reference point. Everything else builds from there. Each ring represents the small, consistent decisions that shape outcomes over time.
The annual growth rings of a tree quietly tell the story of time, resilience and consistency. They remind us that the strongest foundations aren’t built overnight. They’re built through thousands of small decisions, repeated over years.
I recently came across the term ‘biomimicry’ (the practice of solving human challenges by learning from nature’s time-tested patterns). It made me realise that’s exactly what we’d unknowingly done.
Nature has always understood the power of compounding.
We simply chose to learn from it.
