Such an honour to be part of developing this vibrant and energetic brand for a grass roots community centre that seeks to lift up Aboriginal people in a space that provides meaningful support through art classes, food shelter, service access and lifestyle support.
Beananging Kwuurt represents ‘A new day for Aboriginal people’ symbolising the place for healing, caring and nurturing. 'Beananging' is Noongar for the beginning of a new day, the part of the day when the sky begins to lighten, but before the sun has risen. 'Kwuurt' is Noongar for heart.
Their new logo symbolises people gathering and coming together at a meeting place. You can find the symbol for star/sun incorporated into the logo as well as the symbols for people.
I miss clunky. I mean what has happened to us? We've become all super smooth gradients with glossy edges and ultra slick high def finesse - where did the raw edges go? The bits when we don't cut straight, or messed up the linework and erased too hard and made an ugly hole in the paper? Those human bits. Because, after all, can't life can be a bit, well, clunky!? Maybe it's time to get back to scissors and glue and human endeavour - and try to mix that more into my approach. Where things aren't perfect, but we love them for that. It makes us feel less 'generated'.
This somewhat (clunky) anime for a client in Minneapolis, was a sketch. But it makes me smile, for it's clunkiness, for the hopeful the words. It sums up how I'm feeling today. Happy TBT!

Loved working on this project in 2018. A huge thank you to Jen for putting her trust in me to design this coffee table book - it is a beautifully curated collection of individual stories around the concept of adornment and what it communicates about our identity. To this day I still adore flipping through the pages and reading each unique perspective. Such an honour to also collaborate with three super talented photographers in the USA.

'Our Vision 2030', is the newly released strategic plan for the K Farmer Dutjahn Foundation. This document proudly outlines the foundation's goals for the future in a way that engages and informs potential donors and corporate entities through its energetic, modern and Indigenous aesthetic. It's always a pleasure working with to help communicate their great work to the wider world. ☺️

Just completed! 🥳 A quietly confident identity to launch an emerging ceramic artist's brand. The logo had to read well in teeny dimensions as a stamp on the base of the pottery - so simplicity was imperative. We can't wait to see what comes out of the kiln! Thank you - you've been such a delight to work with!
