What does a career in manufacturing really look like?

ASA WA recently attended the Empowered Women In Trades (EWIT) Talk & Tour at the Coca-Cola Europacific Partners facility in Kewdale, gaining valuable insight into the scale and variety of careers within the manufacturing sector.

The site operates five production lines, produces 28 million cases each year, and employs 125 people across a 20,000sqm facility.

Beyond the impressive numbers, the tour highlighted the range of skills and roles required to keep a manufacturing operation running. From maintenance and quality assurance to logistics and operations, it was a reminder that there are many pathways into industry through apprenticeships, traineeships, and vocational education.

The visit also reinforced the growing opportunities for women in trades and manufacturing, with initiatives like Empowered Women In Trades helping to increase visibility of careers in sectors where female representation continues to grow.

At Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA, we're committed to helping apprentices, trainees, job seekers, and their families better understand the career opportunities available across a range of industries, while supporting greater participation and awareness of opportunities for women in trades.

Our team recently had the pleasure of attending the KDCCI Career Expo in Karratha, where Industry Training Consultants Crystal Moko and Marie Aquino, alongside mentor Lovelygee Maclagan, represented Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA.

With over 1,000 students from four local high schools filling the expo floor, it was an incredible opportunity to connect with Year 10–12 students and share how School Based Traineeships (SBTs) can kickstart their career journey - earning while they learn!

Beyond the students, the event was a wonderful chance to network with local Karratha businesses, strengthening the partnerships that help us connect young people with great opportunities in their own backyard.
