Snapshot of this weeks Australian Asset Finance Update - Following the Reserve Bank of Australia’s May 2026 decision to increase the cash rate to 4.35%, the Australian car finance market is continuing to experience upward pressure on lending rates. As lenders absorb higher funding costs and anticipate the possibility of further tightening, many are passing these increases onto both new and existing variable-rate car loans.
