In 2018, I moved to New York chasing what I thought was my dream job.

On paper, life looked good.

A property portfolio. Travel. Freedom.

But inside, I felt empty.

Drinking too much. Distracted. Wondering what I was actually building.

One random question in a bar changed everything:
“What are your goals?”
That moment led me into personal development.

And it’s been a seven-year journey of rewiring how I think, decide, and design my life.

Melbourne Melbourne Melbourne... don’t hate me for this...

But I need to share something that’s been bugging me.

Lately I’ve seen a lot of investors pile into Melbourne thinking it’s “the next Perth”...

And honestly? I’m worried they’re setting themselves up for disappointment.

I lived in Melbourne for five years — I love the place. Amazing coffee, great culture, heaps of charm.

But when it comes to investing right now, the numbers just don’t stack up the same as what they did in Perth a few years ago.

After digging into the data (and a whole lot of fine print around VIC’s investment rules), I realised there are some serious red flags:
Possible oversupply issues - according to government data

Hidden costs and compliance headaches

Rules that could eat away your returns before you even find a tenant.

It’s not all doom and gloom — there are opportunities.

But I just want you to have the facts.
