Major culvert works for RHGS. 60 metres of vacuum extraction and jetting in action.

Ash and Michael were onsite this week supporting RHGS during a significant culvert installation, handling the dewatering, sediment extraction, and jetting works needed to keep the project moving.

For anyone unfamiliar with this type of work, here is what is involved. During culvert construction and maintenance, water and sediment naturally accumulate inside the structure and surrounding excavation that need to be removed for the works to progress. Our combo vacuum and jetting trucks tackle both jobs at once. High pressure jetting blasts away built up sediment from inside the pipe, while the vacuum side simultaneously sucks the slurry out and contains it for proper disposal.
The boom arm extension lets us reach deep into the work area without the truck having to manoeuvre into tight or unstable ground. It also means we can work efficiently across the full length of a 60 metre culvert without constantly repositioning.

Why is this work so important? Culverts manage massive volumes of water, particularly during Perth's wet season. A properly installed and clean culvert prevents flooding, protects roads and infrastructure, and keeps surrounding ecosystems healthy. Get the install right and the maintenance regular, and the system works for decades.

Our fleet includes multiple combo trucks and jetters of various sizes, ready for commercial and civil projects of any scale. From smaller maintenance jobs right through to major infrastructure works like this, we have the equipment and expertise to deliver.
Big thanks to RHGS for having us on board.

Tree roots and asbestos pipes. A challenging combination handled the right way in Cottesloe.

Andy and Rudy were onsite this week exposing services for Water Corporation under heavy tree root systems, where an old asbestos pipe needs to be replaced.
Jobs like this are exactly why vacuum excavation exists. When you're working in established suburbs with mature trees and ageing infrastructure, traditional digging methods create serious risks. Tree roots can hide critical services, and damaging an asbestos pipe with a mechanical excavator creates an immediate health hazard along with environmental and compliance issues.

Vacuum excavation gives us the precision to work safely around tree roots without damaging the surrounding root structure or harming the tree itself. It also allows the asbestos pipe to be exposed cleanly and safely, ready for the replacement work to take place under controlled conditions.
This approach protects the workers onsite, the surrounding environment, the property, and the trees that give Cottesloe streets their character. It is slower than smashing through with traditional methods, but the safety, compliance, and quality of the outcome makes it the only sensible option.

Proud to support Water Corporation on critical infrastructure renewal across Perth.
