Tawny nurse shark 🦈 aka a lazy shark.

These things feel like you're hauling in a bunch of seaweed in the current.

That feeling when a MONSTER SHARK jumps on your line 🤯
-
Was ballooning out a tuna head from the beach when what was probably a 4-5m tiger shark hit it.
-
Bit of a disaster though. The line roller on the reel seized part way through an unstoppable run and the friction of the line being pulled over it overheated the roller and the line melted.
-
There was a big crack and I'm pretty sure I saw the shock wave. I thought for a second the reel had exploded but it was just the line.
-
I've landed a 3 meter tiger on this gear with no problem and this one felt much bigger and harder to stop.
-
I've topped up the line, tied a new shark rig and stripped and serviced the line roller ready for another go.
-
What do you think I hooked?

Little black tip 🦈

Loads of these tippers cruising the beaches looking for scraps.

If you're bait fishing for other species and your line gets bitten off, it might be one of these little guys.

Little black tip reefy 🦈
-
Loads of these little sharks around. A lot of them aren't heavy enough to set the hook fully, they just get nicked in the corner of the mouth and the hook often falls out once they are landed and the line goes slack.
-
I have to fish with the big sharks in mind, so can't really use lighter or smaller tackle. You never know what will pick up the bait, could be a baby shark or a 5 metre monster.

Quick 📸 and safely released.

Night time shark 🦈 What species do you think it is?

Nice details on this fish, look at the scalloped dark edge on the tail fin. Caught near Exmouth, Western Australia.

White tip reef shark 🦈
-
Caught this white tip off the rocky section of the beach. It was barrel rolling all the way in. It's about 5-6ft long.
-
Landed it onto a cool, wet rock platform to unhook it and take a quick pic before releasing it.
