🔬🧪 20 SCIENCE WORDS THAT KEEP SHOWING UP IN PTE READING AND LISTENING 🧪🔬
Be honest.
Have you ever been in the middle of a PTE Listening task and heard a word like “hypothesis” or “ecosystem” and completely lost track of the whole passage trying to figure out what it meant?
That is exactly how one unfamiliar word costs you an entire question.
Science is one of the most common topics in PTE Academic. Passages about research, experiments, technology and the environment appear constantly across Reading, Listening and even Writing tasks.
So if this vocabulary is not already in your head before test day, you are going into the exam at a disadvantage.
Save this post and test yourself tomorrow.
Cover the definitions and see how many you already know. The ones you get wrong?
Those are your study words for the week.
Building vocabulary this way — in context, with meaning, not just memorising word lists — is exactly what gets your PTE Reading and Listening scores moving.

🚨⚠️ IF YOU WRITE “WE” IN YOUR PTE ESSAY YOU ARE LOSING MARKS ⚠️🚨
I know. Nobody told you this.
And that’s exactly why so many test takers are shocked when their Writing score comes back lower than expected.
Here’s the problem:
“We” is informal. PTE Academic Writing requires a formal, academic tone. The moment you write “we should protect the environment” or “we need to take action”... the AI scoring system picks it up.
It sounds like a conversation, not an essay.
The fix is simple. Replace “we” with a specific subject:
👍 young people
👍 adults
👍 local residents
👍 urban populations
👍 rural communities
👍 people around the world
👍 many people
👍 a large number of individuals
👍 the majority of people
👍 a growing number of people
Save this list right now and use it every time you practice.
Instead of “We should reduce plastic use” try “A growing number of people believe plastic consumption must be reduced.”
See the difference? That one swap alone makes your essay sound more academic, more structured and more score worthy.
This is exactly the kind of tip that separates a 65 from a 79+.
