Erica Zaino Artist

As part of our celebration of female artists this International Women’s Day, Erica Zaino presents 'ART (Artificial Real Time)' on the sands of Cottesloe Beach.

This sculpture examines the tension between our growing reliance on AI and the potential loss of personal identity. The figure reflects the expanding role of technology in art and creativity, prompting contemplation of how individuality and the personal touch may be affected as AI becomes increasingly influential.

Zaino is a recipient of this year’s WA Emerging Artists Support Program, with $15,000 in support shared with Stephanie De Biasi and Sam Hopkins, made possible through donations at the Sculpture by the Sea Perth Gala Dinner.

I am so excited and delighted that “Eve Matriline” has been shortlisted for the Stirling Art awards 2021.

The exhibition will be open to public from 29 October-7 November from 10-4 pm.

Eve Matriline _ description
When we draw a line on a white canvas, we can create images that represent everyday life. What is the origin of a drawing? The simple answer is: one line. What is at the origin of a sculpture? Undeniably to occupy “space”, to exist, to connect to consciousness. With this artwork the intent is to blend the two realities whereby the space becomes the blank canvas and the shape in vision takes life on its own with intricate wire knitting.
The name of the artwork reflects the very own concept of line being the matrix taking shape of a female body, Eve the lineage of the female figure.
