All my Christmases came at once at the Canning Show Awards Night when I received my certificate for Champion Decorated Cakes but also won the Ernest & Joan Clark Perpetual Trophy for Best Exhibit in Home Cooking! It was a real surprise to be awarded this year’s Perpetual Champion for Home Cooking - totally unexpected!

This cake is my ode to the essential workers who have met us safe during this pandemic. It was meant to be my entry to the Perth Royal Show but I didn’t complete it in time. So instead, I entered it into the Canning Show.

There are 24 figurines, representing the various essential workers. It was a lot of work but this is my way of thanking those members of my family, friends and colleagues who are essential workers. Thank you for all you do!

The first cake I made for my godson Mikhail was for his christening, and then went on to make many more cakes celebrating milestones in his life. This weekend, I had the honour of making a cake for his most important milestone thus far, as he married his lovely bride, Laureta.

This 7 tier cake reflected the theme colours of their wedding and the bride's bouquet and had a hidden slice of the groom's favourite chocolate cake for the couple to cut. Guests were gifted with the bride's choice of a semolina butter cake encased in a beautiful blue lace pouch.

Congratulations, Mik and Laura! Wishing you love and happiness always!

Merry Christmas from the team at Gerry and the Cakemaker! This Aussie inspired Christmas cake was for the Joseph family who will be celebrating with their extended family today. They chose quintessential Australian summer flavours i.e. a coconut cake layered with pineapple curd and topped with lime buttercream.

What happens when the bride-to-be is sick on the day of their wedding cake tasting? The cakes are boxed up and sent to them together with some champagne.

Top row - Chocolate cake with chocolate hazelnut buttercream
2nd row - Coconut cake with salted caramel buttercream
3rd row - Semolina almond cake with lemon buttercream
4th row - Butter cake with lemon buttercream
All cakes topped with ivory fondant.
