⭐️Plasticity⭐️

Kleim & Jones (2008) highlight principles for activity induced plasticity:
1. Use it or lose it
2. Use it and improve it
3. Specificity
4. Repetition
5. Intensity matters
6. Timing matters
7. Salience matters (relevance of the task)
8. Age matteds
9. Transference
10. Interference

We can all take the time to reflect on our rehab sessions with clients. Are we meeting the above principles and what is the aim of our therapy?
Are we aiming for rehabilitative principles or would compensatory be better given the circumstances and impairments present?

Are we achieving the intensity we need to drive change? Ie 2 hours a day, 5 days a week for the first month post injury (Hubbard et al., 2015)
Or 40mins, 3 days a week at 40-60% heart rate reserve to drive exercise induced neuroplastic changes? (Chaves, et al., 2020).

How can we motivate our clients to achieve the parameters needed to drive neuroplastic change.

What language are we choosing to use, that could feed into maladaptive changes.
