As Managing Director of Tydan Constructions, I often reflect that construction is a journey filled with highs and lows—challenges and rewards. I’m proud to say that the delivery of ALDI Haynes sits firmly among the highs and is a project that brings real satisfaction and pride.
There are moments in this role when the best decision you can make is to trust your team—to step back, let them do what they do best, make the tough calls, and stand by them. ALDI Haynes was one of those moments.
From the outset, the contract program was considered achievable, but ALDI challenged us with a simple question: “Can we do better?” As our first ALDI project, there was understandable caution. However, our Project Team—those on the frontline—had the confidence, experience, and commitment to back themselves. They knew that if they made the promise, it had to be delivered.
And deliver they did.
The team successfully accelerated the program by four weeks, completing the project on time and exactly as promised. This achievement is even more impressive given the unexpected challenges along the way, including unsuitable clay requiring off-site removal and persistent torrential rain—conditions that tested the program but never the team’s resolve.
This result is a true credit to everyone involved. A huge thank you to the ALDI team, the architect, and our contractors—including several we worked with for the first time and look forward to partnering with again.
