CDM were tasked with creating a stylised Kimberly themed facade to go into

Designed by as a themed backdrop for large insect models and artworks.

CDM knew early on that this had to occur offsite with minimal site disruption

shared their fit out plans for the area and we asked Giovanni from to replicate the joinery in our studio.

Built to be very accurate, our wall was however sacrificial to allow for cementitious work to occur away from the finished gallery space.

Our aim was to sculpt a rock wall that could be disassembled moved and installed

To start foam was inserted into the sacrificial wood structures by  and and then carved into approximate forms.

The process of sculpting was expertly handled by JP from who took on this very stressful task.

First by applying a scratch coat and then the important visual topcoat

There was testing and constant conversation as to how parts separated and went back together.

Once satisfied, we broke the display down into its various parts and carted it all off to the museum where we nervously pieced our Kimberly jigsaw back together over a long Easter weekend in 2020.

It's a great addition to the Relics and Refugees zone in the Wildlife gallery.
