Milestones Early Learning Canning Vale

Today the children were invited to explore Aboriginal art symbols using a tray filled with coloured sand, natural twigs, and printed symbol cards. The tray was decorated with earthy tones, stones, and leaves to create a sense of Country and connection to the land.

As the children gathered around, they eagerly selected twigs and began tracing the symbols in the sand. They showed curiosity and focus as they experimented with lines, shapes, and patterns.

The experience encouraged fine‑motor development, early mark‑making skills, and cultural learning. The children demonstrated respect and interest as they engaged with the materials and shared their ideas with one another.
