Just how broken is Australia’s migration system? Immigracious' Managing Director and Registered Migration Agent, Sheila Woods was interviewed on ABC Radio Perth last week to comment on the Federal Government’s response to a ‘Review Into the Exploitation of the Migration System’ by Former Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police, Christine Nixon.

The Government’s response agreed — either wholly, in part or in principle with 24 of the 34 recommendations made in the Review, and as a result we’ll likely be seeing a further crack-down on visa and immigration compliance.

In our experience, this year we have already seen the Government start to make sponsorship and visa compliance a greater focus through requests for audits of sponsor companies – and we had expected this trend to continue.

The Government is likely to leverage Registered Migration Agents to advise visa holders and sponsors of their obligations in the near future.
